Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was unwilling to come in contact with the ball from the front because “he has an image to protect”, according to former Juve striker Nicola Amoruso.
Cristiano was blamed online or the decisive goal as FC Porto knocked out Juventus in the last 16 of the competition.
Porto’s winner came from a Sergio Oliveira free-kick which went through Cristiano Ronaldo’s legs.
Fans, critics and even Juventus legends blamed the 36-year old as they claimed he should have been facing the ball since he was part of the wall.
According to Amoruso, Juve boss Andrea Pirlo should have never put Ronaldo on free kick wall duty.

“I would never put him [Ronaldo] in the barrier on free kicks,” he analysed.
“He is afraid of receiving a ball in the face because he cares about his image.”
Former England boss Fabio Capello also slammed Ronaldo’s work ethic at Juventus, saying, “Certain goals cannot be conceded,”
“Cristiano Ronaldo jumping and turning in the wall… whoever is in the wall cannot be afraid of being hit. It is an unforgivable mistake that has no excuse,”
Away from football, Cristiano is the most followed person on Instagram and has a very lucrative brand online.
As a matter of fact, the father of four makes more money using his face online than as a Juventus player.
