A doctor is currently finding it hard to explain how he lost almost Ksh 219,000 meant for a polo immunization program in Uganda after placing a bet on the Worldcup.

The health worker from Zombo district is said to have staked the crazy amount on his favorite team hoping he’ll make a killing and return the money before anyone finds out but his plan didn’t fall through.

The doctor revealed that he had put the money on France sure that it will win against Tunisia only for the game to end 1-0.

He confessed to a committee that it’s true he bet the sum which he lost. He promised to repay the amount as soon as possible.

Tunisia went out of the World Cup on Wednesday in the strangest of circumstances: victors over France, 1-0, when a late French equalizer was disallowed 12 minutes into second-half injury time, but already eliminated a few minutes earlier by Australia’s 1-0 victory against Denmark.

Even though Tunisia won the match, France won the group, and Tunisia headed home.
