Everton forward is one of the most recognizable exports in African football today, and rightfully so, as he has had a great support system behind him throughout his life.

Born in 1996, Iwobi is a product of Chuba Iwobi and Alex Iwobi, and the latter is the sister of football legend Jay Jay Okocha.

Not much is known about Iwobi’s mother, but what is for certain is the fact that the 25-year old owes a lot to her in his football career.

The family moved to Turkey when Iwobi was only two and later moved to England, where he got the perfect chance to sharpen his football skills.

Iwobi got acquainted with Tyrell Robinson, who also turned out to be a football star playing for Bradford City.

On February 28, the Everton winger took to social media to wish his lovely mum a happy birthday as she turned a year older, sharing. “Happy birthday to my mum” on Twitter.

In his rise to a football star, Iwobi once revealed in an interview that he faced the challenge of not being big enough, but his mother and  sister played an integral part in helping him get better.

“Because I wasn’t as big, fast or strong as everyone else, there were question marks on me and my ability that I wasn’t imposing myself on the game as I should,” Iwobi recalled. “It was upsetting because I was going to school thinking, ‘What can I do to improve?’ I would have extra sessions with my dad or friends. My mum made me do kick-ups in the living room. My sister even tried to play football. Everyone was trying to help me.”
