Marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge recently let his fans in on how he spends the millions he has made in his career.
Being one of Kenya’s most successful exports in terms of athletic, Kipchoge is certainly in the big leagues when it comes to his financial muscle.
However, he still maintains a low profile and always tries to live as humbly as possible.
Back in 2020 ahead of his race with Kenenisa Bekele in 2020, Kipchoge opened up on the sensitive topic of finances where he expressed discontent at how athletes end up in desolate state after their careers are behind them.
So how does Kipchoge try to keep his financial status afloat? The answer is simple – investments.
The marathoner has actually pumped his wealth in various ventures including packaging, branding and sound management.
“As you know, sports is just a profession like any other. We are in a profession whereby we need to appropriately plan in order to absorb the shock of life.
“We don’t have to cry about the situation, but to just say the truth,” Kipchoge stated back in September.
By winning the London marathon in 2018, Kipchoge made a staggering KSh 5 million.
He made a further KSh 74 million thanks to his heroics in The Ineos 1:59 Challenge.
Aside from that, he has brand deals with the likes of Nike and the government of Kenya as the tourist ambassador.
His overall net worth is estimated to be around KSh 318 million.
